Manalo’s philosophy is ‘Preserving the Horses body instead of wearing it down’. ‘My aim is to pass on a better understanding of the importance within the partnership and ‘the joy of the dance’ that can be experienced by horse and rider when body and mind are working together.’ I want people to understand that the horse is an athlete, a partner in work and as such, should be treated with the greatest respect.
The purpose of such training should be to allow the horse to reach its full potential with willing cooperation and without pushing them beyond their mental and physical ability.
I do not sacrifice the soundness of one aspect for the progress of another. The nature of my technique allows me to provide the horse the opportunity for healing and flourishing, guiding the horse along its own path to wellness.
CHRISTINE SIEVERS- PROTOCOL DAY WATCH THIS SPACE FOR OUR NEXT ONE!!
Great Information from Christine.
FORMAT FOR THE DAY:
Warm up near protocol test arena
Time is a 20 minute session: ride your chosen test, receive judges feedback, work through the movements or even re ride the test again and receive advice on how to improve your score, and a a hard copy of the test resultsYou get to choose the test YOU want to ride.
You get to decide if you want to re-ride test or just ride the parts that need most improvement
Important to be warmed up ready, so you get the most our of your 20min with the judge
The judge is there to help, guide and give you constructive deedback. They don’t mind if the wheels fall off - they can give you good advice on how to “put the wheels back on”
The judge is not going to get annoyed or complain if you have issues - that’s the whole pont of these days
All the other riders are there for the same reason, so usually it’s extremely friendly and supportive environment
Some riders book in two time slots on the same day, maybe back to back to take their time and others book a second slot a few hours later and ride a different test..
We all go through the doubt and “I am not ready” thoughts in our head.
By going to a strange location and riding the test in front of the judge with others watching/warming up nearby or warming up along side you, this is more like a competition experience and teaches you to focus inward and on your horse and shut out the external factors.**The horse doesn’t know that’s its not a comp!
They definitely improve the performances as well as give the riders good feed back in a strange environment that gives the rider the chance to understand how the horse is likely to perform at a real competition. In my experience as a regular protocol judge I sees so many PB% achieved and performance improved at the real competition because of the time and commitment taken to use the protocol days a s a mini dress rehearsal.
Riders travel an hour or two to do them (some have travelled 2-3 hours to ride at the protocol days).
